George Nathaniel Jones was a loving husband, father, uncle, grandfather, professional welder for 30+ years, and servant of God. He was born in Bocas del Toro, Republic of Panama on March 17, 1951 to Doris Jones and Joseph Hinds. His parents resided in Costa Rica where George lived for most of his childhood and later on he moved to Panama. While living in Panama, he graduated from High School, was a member of the Assemblies of God where he met the love of his life Maritza P. Jones. They were united in marriage on June 25th, 1977 for 46 years and 4 months. They were blessed with 2 children: Jennifer and Jorge and 4 wonderful grandchildren: Jeremiah, Nicole “Nikki”, Katalina and Michael.
As a couple, George continued his calling in ministry by graduating from Bible Institute at the Assemblies of God, became an Evangelist, Co-Pastor, Youth Leader, Spanish Interpreter for visiting and International Evangelists, ministered in the Christian Radio Station, member of the Counseling and Financial Committee and taught Bible, History, Homiletic at the Bible Institute of the Assemblies of God.
As the years passed, George began to attend services were his wife already was a member at the Church of God of Prophecy (COGOP Main Church) in Panama. In 1981 he decided to join in membership at COGOP. In 1994 he was ordained Pastor of COGOP local church in Panama and 1997 he was ordained Pastor of COGOP in Grand Island, Nebraska (USA) for 23+ years from where he later retired. He also taught Bible, History at COGOP Bible Institute. Throughout his ministry, George enjoyed preaching, traveling throughout Panama on missionary trips to various indigenous and remote areas, cooking, watching nature television shows while drinking Coca Cola, he loved Oreo cookies, M&Ms with peanut, Doritos, of course his wife cooking, he enjoyed conversing, he excelled in geography, history and mathematics, his family referred to him as “the walking encyclopedia” as he could remember dates and events so well. He was loved, respected and forever will be remembered by his family, friends and neighbors in Panama as in the USA. George is survived by his wife Maritza Jones; his children Jennifer Jones and Jorge Jones; brother Theophilus Hinds; other relatives and friends.
